It's not "Gory Pinups" or "Bloody Pinups" - it's "Zombie Pinups". Please keep that in mind when submitting! A little blood on an otherwise unblemished complexion does not a zombie make.
Hate Valentines day? Love it? Well it doesn't matter because we have an event for you!
Come join the lovable Kitty Zombie at Neo for "A Very Bloody Valentine"! That's right, Kitty is hosting a night of zombies, zombie pin-ups, and love for all on Valentines Day. Winners will be featured on www.zombiepinups.com and don't forget the prizes, one of which will be you and Kitty for a pinup-style photo shoot!
Zombie Pinup contest starts at 1:00 am - get there early to ensure your place as space IS LIMITED.
So bring your sexy self and enjoy a Valentines evening that you are sure to remember.
There is a cover charge and this is a 21+ bar only. Sorry to those not yet old enough. But Kitty has plans for more all ages events soon! So come early for sexy zombie goodness!!!
After the killer server crash from this last weekend, I found a backup from a couple of years ago that at least has the original set of Zombie Pinups, which has been restored. I'll still have to add back everything else by hand, but it's a start.
On January 9th, 2009, the server that ZombiePinups.com was hosted on died a gruesome, horrible death. A few days later, in true zombie fashion, it rose from the dead. Also in true zombie fashion, it was significantly crippled - in this case, the gallery of pinups. Please be patient as we rebuild!
So, you're off from school, work is boring, or you can't stand the throngs of rude people in the frenzy of Holiday Shopping.
You want to get out and DO something....but what?
Well, here it is.
December 14th at 2:30 in the afternoon, Kitty Zombie will be holding the first Zombies on Ice event at Millennium Park in downtown Chicago! Kitty has teamed up with http://www.chicagozombie.com/ and others to be named soon to bring you this fun and festive event.
Now, here is the kicker... we are going to try for the Guinness Book of World Records for most zombies ice skating at one time!
There will be swag, pictures, video, and of course, lots and LOTS of zombies!
Keep in mind this is a PUBLIC rink. Therefore, no dripping/oozing blood, etc. that will dirty up the ice. If we make a mess, we will be asked to leave, and the cops will become involved. We have good rapport with the police because of the success of Zombie March Chicago this summer, so let's not mess it up!
Over the years I've discussed the idea of doing a Zombie Pinups calendar with a number of cohorts, but it never gets done due to time/money constraints.
In the best spirit of "You Snooze, You Lose", a group of enthusiastic artists and designers in San Francisco (the birthplace of the Zombie Pinup!) took the initiative earlier this year and produced a calendar that is far superior to anything I probably would have come up with.
Inspired by one of the ZPU online contests earlier in the year, this group set out to do photos to enter the contest, then the project evolved, and we all can reap the benefits! Go to http://www.myzombiepinup.com to see the grotesquely gorgeous results. Hurry! This is a limited edition item, and they've already sold half of them!
War and Social Upheaval Cause Spikes in Zombie Movie Production
There's been a huge spike in the production of zombie movies lately, and many of them seem to be inspired by war. Everything from 28 Days Later to Zombie Strippers make explicit reference to wartime, as did seminal 1968 zombie flick Night of the Living Dead. Is there really a connection between zombie movies and social unrest? IO9.com decided to do some research and find out. Check out their results HERE.

October 26 is World Zombie Day!
Contact: Mark Menold, Producer (412) 953-0937 mmenold@theitsaliveshow.com
World Zombie Day Outbreak Spreads to 52 Cities October 26 event to benefit food charities worldwide Pittsburgh, PA – September 8, 2008 – World Zombie Day has gone viral, infecting 52 cities in the US, Canada, Central America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
"The number of cities signing on has far exceeded our expectations", says organizer Mark Menold, who is also producer and host of the Pittsburgh-based television program The It’s Alive Show. "The response is overwhelming. We’re going to bring in substantial food donations as well as set another world record." Pittsburgh owns the current Guinness World Record™ for largest zombie gathering of 1,028 people set last year. "This year, we are going to add all of the zombies from each city to come up with one monstrous total so that everyone can say they were part of a world record", says Menold.
World Zombie Day, being held on Sunday, October 26, features zombie walks with accompanying food drives in participating cities. The hub of World Zombie Day will be a walk at the Monroeville Mall with a food drive benefiting the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The Mall walk – which is part of the 2008 Zombie Fest – is at the site where George Romero zombie movie Dawn of the Dead was filmed. Zombie Fest is a free, all ages public fan festival celebrating the 30th anniversary of Dawn and all things zombie and will feature vendors, author panels with award winning writers, films, celebrity guests, bands, entertainment and interactive fan activities.
For more information about World Zombie Day or Zombie Fest, please visit www.theitsaliveshow.com.
Ninjas vs. Zombies Halloween Night
No plans for Halloween? Anywhere near Leesburg, VA? Then get your butt over to the Tally Ho Theater for the "World Premiere Bootleg Screening" of NINJAS VS. ZOMBIES!
A web comic about badass babes fighting zombies? What's not to love? The creator says "it's like Power Puff Girls and The Warriors meets Dawn of the Dead."
Shirt.Woot.com has a fantastic zombie take on the classic Norman Rockwell painting "Gossip", wherein the rumor is replaced with the dreaded zombie virus:
As time permits, I'm going to give ZombiePinups.com a long-overdue facelift, both because it needs it and because the site's content has evolved past the current designs.
Now that the Zombie Pinup Phenomenon has become a bit of a juggernaut, ZombiePinups.com will expand to cover ALL things related to Zombie Pinup-ness. This Halloween season we've found a ton of events, products and promotions that have nothing to do with ZombiePinups.com, but which call themselves "Zombie Pinups (or Pin-Ups, or Pin Ups)". Rather than fight this trend, we're embracing it for the cultural monstrosity that it is! We started this thing for fun, not profit, and we're going to keep it that way.
If you are involved in or know of a Zombie Pinup-esque event, product or news item, send it to savage@zombiepinups.com and, if it checks out, it'll get posted here as ZPU News!
Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew’s videotape.
QUARANTINE opens nationwide on October 10th. However, we have passes to an advance screening in Chicago - send us a photo of yourself as a zombie:
Send your photo as an image attachment to an email
Send us a link to the image online (make sure it's not Friends Only!)
All photo entries will be posted to HauntedHouseChicago.com; screening pass winners will be selected at random from all entries; we will also select Grand Prize Winners from the photos - the best zombies will get prize packs with exclusive Quarantine merchandise!
TO ENTER, send your photo to savage@chicagohorror.com with the Subject Header "QUARANTINE ME!". Include your real name and preferred email address. That's it! C'mon, Chicago - show us your BRAAAAAAINS...
DEADLINE: October 8 at Noon. Winners will be notified of the time and location of the screening shortly thereafter.
DISCLAIMERS: Providing incomplete information (no name, bad email address) means you won't win anything. Please don't send us a photo if you don't want it shown to the world - that kind of defeats the purpose. Winners will be contacted directly by Quarantine's promotional company and any issues or complaints should be taken up with them - HauntedHouseChicago.com / ChicagoHorror.com / ChicagoZombie.com / ZombiePinups.com are providing this opportunity to you because we're nice and we love you, but once we deliver your info/photos to Quarantine, it's out of our hands.
